He is the masculine counterpart of the High Priestess. While the Magician was taking his power from the Universe, the Hierophant channels his power through society (understood as the religions of the world). He is a metaphor for every type of institution based on a common group identity. This card also symbolizes "doing the right thing". It can also suggest that there is some sort of tension between you and your peers' belief systems but he advises you to stand up for what you believe in. Rituals of any sort could prove especially helpful when this card appears in your reading.

Work: Maybe you've been longing for a career mentor. If that's true, you're likely to meet him/her. There's also the possibility that you'll be called upon to be someone else's mentor. Even if you don't see yourself as a team-player, now is a good time to become involved in a group project.
